Summary
A new, evolutionary treatment of far-field boundary conditions is devised and implemented in the flow algorithm of the FAME suite of codes. Continual, local calculation of flow variables on the far-field boundary, based on physical concepts, is used to construct new conditions that can be used for non-remote boundaries. The consequent use of a smaller computing region results in significant improvements in the speed of convergence of flow calculations and so reduces computational costs, with little loss in solution accuracy.
