Zusammenfassung
Wenige politikwissenschaftliche Ansätze verbinden Mikro- und Makroebene in der Weise miteinander, daß sie über den Zusammenhang zwischen den politischen Orientierungen der Individuen einerseits und dem politischen System und seinen Strukturen andererseits direkt Auskunft geben. Gerade diese Verbindung, also Antworten auf die »zentrale Frage nach dem systematischen Zusammenhang zwischen individuellen Merkmalen und institutionellen Faktoren«1 zu finden, ist als Desiderat empirisch fundierter Demokratietheorie zu benennen.
