Abstract
The objectives of the 1989 GAMM Workshop, entitled “3D-Computation of Incompressible Internal Flows”, were generally defined by the Workshop Scientific Committee to test the ability of researchers in the field to calculate the flow through the different components of a Francis water turbine, including its distributor, runner and draft tube. Consequently, a test case Francis turbine geometry was decided upon and, subsequently, a model turbine was built according to all specifications recommended by the committee for testing in the IMHEF turbine test facilities at EPFL.
