Zusammenfassung

Für den Begriff “Entwicklungsland” gibt es keine allgemein gültige Definition. Entwicklungsländer werden auch unterentwickelte Länder, die am wenigsten entwickelten Länder (Least Developed Countries (LDC)) oder auch, wie im allgemeinen Sprachgebrauch, “Dritte Welt” genannt. Die Bezeichnung “Dritte Welt” ist eine Abgrenzung zur “Ersten Welt”, den westlichen Industrienationen, und zur “Zweiten Welt”, den sozialistischen Ländern des Ostblocks2.
