Abstract

Over the 1948/68 period of central planning a high degree of state control characterized the Hungarian economy. Under those circumstances even typically macro-economic decision (such as production output, product mix etc.) were made at the level of government bureaucracies. The decisions having high significance or long term implications were made exclusively at the political (party politics) level.
