Grundsätzlich kann Marktforschung als eine „systematische, empirische Untersuchungstätigkeit mit dem Zweck der Informationsgewinnung oder -verbesserung über objektiv beziehungsweise subjektiv bedingte Markttatbestände und -phänomene als Grundlage beschaffungs- und absatzpolitischer Entscheidungen“1 bezeichnet werden.
