Training Management in the Construction and Use of Financial Models

Abstract

There is considerable interest and activity in financial modeling in the United States at the present time. We at the Systems Sciences Institute can attest to this from contacts we have had with a broad spectrum of companies during the past year. This interest is also apparent from the large number of articles on modeling that have appeared in professional publications and in magazines such as Fortune and The Harvard Business Review. More concrete evidence of this wide-spread interest can be gleaned from a recent article in Business Week¹) having to do with management consulting firms in the United States. In this article it was reported that most of these firms now devote a large part of their efforts to modeling and simulation; in some cases close to 25 º/o of their assignments are in these areas.
