Abstract
Network Computers (NCs) have generated a lot of press, both positive and negative, over the last year. The NC’s promise of low cost of ownership, ease of administration, and high security has captured the interest of many UT professionals. Since its debute at fall ’96 Comdex, the NetCentre NC platform has received rave reviews at numerous international trade shows and OEM/customer engagements. It has been recognized by UT experts and analysts as a cutting-edge platform for building a variety of NC devices. One reason for this response can be found in the NetCentre’s use of smart cards (SCs).
