Zusammenfassung
Ausgangspunkt der vorliegenden Arbeit war die Fragestellung, ob Unternehmen in Folge eines verstärkten Einsatzes von Informations- und Kommunikationstechnik tendenziell größer oder kleiner werden. Diese Frage wurde von Coase bereits 1937 in seinem Beitrag „The Nature of the Firm“ in den Raum gestellt und ist bis heute aus Sicht der ökonomischen Theorie nicht befriedigend beantwortet. In Wissenschaft und Praxis haben sich zwei große Argumentationslinien herauskristallisiert.
