Zusammenfassung
Ehrenamtliche Helferinnen und Helfer tragen nach wie vor den Großteil des Leistungsangebots in der offenen Altenhilfe, insbesondere in Altentagesstätten, Altenclubs und Besuchsdiensten (BAG, 1985; Braun & Röhrig, 1987; Olk, 1987; Schmidt, 1987, 1991). Durch die Qualität ihrer Handlungsvollzüge wirken sie in einem beträchtlichen Maße mit bei der Erhaltung und Förderung der sozial-praktischen und geistigen Kompetenz alter Menschen. Dabei kommt es zu Interdependenzen und Verhaltensbeeinflussungen zwischen den ehrenamtlichen Mitarbeitern und den alten Menschen (Baltes, Kindermann & Reisenein, 1986). Von besonderem Gewicht sind hierbei die Altersbilder der Mitarbeiter, die, in Verbindung mit affektiv getönten Bewertungstendenzen, als implizite Beurteilungsschemata ihre Wahrnehmung und ihr Handeln gegenüber alten Menschen mitregulieren (Wahl, 1991). Sie tun dies, “indem sie die gezielte Suche nach Informationen steuern, welche das Individuum als notwendig zur Planung einer angemessenen Reaktion in einer für es relevanten Situation betrachtet” (Weber, Erlemeier & Lucas, 1991, S.102).
An dem Forschungsprojekt haben die Hilfskräfte Irmhild Saake und Rainer Watermann mitgewirkt. Unser Dank gilt vor allem den ehrenamtlichen Helferinnen und Helfern, die sich für die Untersuchung zur Verfügung stellten.
