Zusammenfassung
Wie es scheint, haben wir bei kognitiven Aktivitäten nicht die Wahl zwischen Gebrauch und Nichtgebrauch von „Modellen“ (zum Begriff vgl. unter II); die Spezies homo ist durch den Gebrauch interner Modelle der Außenwelt charakterisiert. Der potentielle Nutzen dieser Modelle hängt von ihrer Präzision ab. Sie sind um so informativer und um so leichter an Erfahrungsdaten zu prüfen, je detaillierter und klarer sie sind. Nachdem J. K. Zawodny auf dem letzten Kongreß der IPSA mit einigem Recht die terminologische Konfusion im Lager der Systemtheoretiker glossieren konnte („If you don’t know what you’re talking about, call it ‘system’ ... “; Specialists’ Meeting: Theory of International Relations, 2. 9. 1970), dürften explizite Definitionen wenigstens der meistgebrauchten Begriffe dabei unentbehrlich sein.
