Zusammenfassung

Das photosynthetische Elektronentransportsystem in der Thylakoidmembran von Chloroplasten und höheren Pflanzen und Algen hat die Aufgabe, Energie (als ATP) und Reduktionsäquivalente (als NADPH) für die CO2-Assimilation und andere lichtabhängige Assimilationsprozesse bereitzustellen. Das Licht, über die chlorophyllhaltigen Photosysteme eingefangen, stellt die Energie zur Verfügung, die notwendig ist, um ATP-Synthese und Redoxprozesse gegen den thermodynamischen Gradienten ablaufen zu lassen.
