Zusammenfassung
Vinylchlorid (VC) wurde 1835 erstmals und seit 1912 im großtechnischen Verfahren synthetisiert (110). Bei normalem, atmosphärischem Druck und Zimmertemperatur ist Vinylchlorid ein farbloses Gas. 1914 wurden organische Peroxyde als Polymerisationskatalysatoren für Vinylchlorid eingeführt, und 1928 begann die Polymerisation von Vinylchlorid zu Polyvinylchlorid (PVC) im großtechnischen Verfahren (63).
