Generation of Surface Grids Using Elliptic PDEs

Summary

Below follows a brief description of a surface grid generator, developed at CERFACS, aimed at the sub-task 1.3.1 in the BRITE/EURAM EuroMesh project. We assume that the given surface is described on parameter form. A system of nonlinear elliptic PDEs, similar to those used for generating planar curvilinear grids, can be deduced for the parameters. These equations are discretized and solved iteratively. This yields a finite set of parameter values from which the corresponding grid points on the surface are computed. We refer to paper (1) for a detailed description.
