Part of the book series: Notes on Numerical Fluid Mechanics (NNFM) ((NNFM,volume 27))

Summary

The Navier-Stokes equations in the benchmark problem for oscillating natural convection are integrated implicitly in time, using three time levels to discretize the time derivatives and the finite-volume method to discretize the spatial derivatives. Results are obtained in the cavity with aspect ratio A = 4 for the rigid-free case (Pr=0 and Pr=0.015) and for the rigid-rigid case (Pr=0) on an equidistant 30×60 spatial grid with a time step Δt = 0.25*Gr -1/2.
