Abstract

The implementation of large software systems and class hierarchies using C++ obviously implies the development of a standard class library whose implemented classes are useful, convenient, and necessary for a majority of applications. These class libraries, however, are not a standard part of C++. In this chapter we give an overview of the nihcl class library. This software package is in the public domain and satisfies the requirements of a general purpose C++ class library. We describe the basics in simplified form — just to enable the use of the use of the library. Details of nihcl can be found in the book of K. Gorlen et al. [Gor90].
