Desktop-Publishing (DTP) ist eine relativ neue Sparte auf dem Software-Markt. PageMaker ist das älteste und das am weitesten verbreitete Programm dieser Art. DTP nennt man die Herstellung von Drucksachen jeder Art mit einem Personal Computer. Satz und Layout werden dabei direkt am Bildschirm gemacht. Im Gegensatz zum herkömmlichen Fotosatz steht die Integration von Text und Grafiken.
