Zusammenfassung

Den Bestand, wie er erhalten und wie er zu erschließen ist, kann man in sechs Schichten beschreiben. Sie repräsentieren eine gewisse Hierarchie, sachlich und chronologisch, auch dann, wenn sie zeitlich nebeneinander auftreten. Dies sind: 1) kanonistische Literatur und Rechtsdokumente; 2) liturgische Denkmäler im engeren Sinne; 3) kirchliche, teilweise auch liturgische Leseliteratur, d. h. Viten und Homiletik; 4) dogmatische Literatur; 5) historische Literatur, d. h. Chroniken; und 6) Einzelerzählungen.
