Die Klassen istream und ostream deklarieren Transferoperatoren für die Basisdatentypen int, float, double etc., jeweils für signed und unsigned Variationen sowie für einige Zeigertypen (wie z.B. char*). Dadurch können E/A-Vorgänge mit diesen Typen einfach und elegant notiert werden.
