Abstract
The basic problem of Internet today is that all its content is designed to be accessed from a PC with the latest release of Internet Explorer or Netscape Communicator. Everybody who has tried to access the web from a wireless connected PDA (personal digital assistant like the 3Com Palm or Psion Revo) knows that either it doesn’t work at all because the PDA browser cannot handle the complex page, or that after a painful long loading time, the page cannot be understood or properly rendered because of the small screen of the PDA. The mobile phones represent another problem. Even if WAP solves the problem of connecting the Mobile Phone to the Internet and to overcome the problem with limited bandwith, it creates a new problem by assuming that Internet content be in a new format specific to WAP. There’s another problem: PDA’s have no keyboard. The solution? Maybe Oracle’s Portal-to-Go adresses all of these problems.

Telia Mobile offers service to their customers using the Nokia TTML technology, and is a now a trial user for WAP phones using the Portal-to-Go beta. Telia is offering services such as online banking, travel services including airline reservations, news services from CNN, and real-time traffic information services. Portal-to-Go Version 1 is currently tested by leading carriers and content providers in Europe, Asia, and the US.
