Abstract

Before getting into specific regulatory trends and business practices relative to the environment in the United States, it will be useful to discuss something about changes going on in the federal government of the United States. These changes form the background conditions within which environmental policy and practices take shape. What is done in any country with respect to the environment takes place within a particular political context that in the United States is radically different from what it was even a few years ago when environmental concerns were at the top of the agenda and received a great deal of positive attention.
