Zusammenfassung
Quantitativ vergleichende Methoden zählen traditionell zu den Grundpfeilern der ländervergleichenden Politikforschung. Sie basieren auf Aggregat- und Umfrageanalysen. Dabei ist die Analyse von Aggregatdaten, im Vergleich zur Umfrageforschung, eine relativ „alte“ Methode. Vor der Einführung und Verbreitung von Umfrage- und Experimentaltechniken stellten die Aggregatdaten (neben teilnehmender Beobachtung des Sozialwissenschaftlers) die einzige „objektive“ Quelle für quantifizierte Informationen über soziale, ökonomische und politische Tatbestände dar.
