Die Konstituierung des Zentralamerikanischen Parlaments: Friedensprozeß und subregionale Integration

Zusammenfassung

Mit dem Zusammentritt des Zentralamerikanischen Parlaments am 26. Oktober 1991 in Guatemala-Stadt hat sich nach dem Europäischen Parlament die zweite parlamentarische Versammlung regionalen Zuschnitts auf der Welt konstituiert, die aus direkten Wahlen hervorgegangen ist. Gleichzeitig wird damit ein weiterer Schritt zur Erfüllung der im Friedensabkommen von Esquipulas 1987 festgelegten Forderungen getan, um in der Krisenregion Zentralamerika einen dauerhaften Frieden zu ermöglichen. Weiterhin trägt diese neu geschaffene parlamentarische Instanz den intensiven Bemühungen zur Verstärkung der regionalen Integration Rechnung, die den Platz Zentralamerikas im Rahmen der Regionalisierung der Wirtschaftsräume und Handelsströme auf dem amerikanischen Kontinent sichern sollen.
