Part of the book series: Notes on Numerical Fluid Mechanics (NNFM) ((NONUFM,volume 60))

Summary

In the framework of the national air transport research program the CFD project MEGAFLOW was initiated. Its goal is the development and validation of a dependable and efficient numerical tool for the aerodynamic simulation of complete aircraft in cruise as well as in start and landing configurations, which meets the requirements for industrial implementation. This requires a concentrated cooperation with the aircraft industry, DLR and universities. The project started mid 1995 and will be finished at the end of 1998. This paper shortly outlines the plan of action and presents the current status of the project.
