Part of the book series: Notes on Numerical Fluid Mechanics (NNFM) ((NONUFM,volume 60))

Summary

The HEG (High Enthalpy Tunnel in Göttingen) has recently been equipped with a new conical nozzle, in order to improve its usability for various test conditions. Prior to that, a test series with spherical models was performed. Of particular interest in the course of the presented studies for the nozzle was the spatial and temporal extent of „steady“ conditions in the test flow, and for the study with spherical models the detection, if present, of effects of surface catalysis.
