Zusammenfassung
Katalysiert durch Aminosäuredecarboxylasen können Aminosäuren unter Verlust der Carboxylgruppe in biogene Amine übergehen. Diese besitzen Bedeutung als Gewebshormone (Histamin, Tyramin, Tryptamin, Serotonin), als Vorstufen von Coenzymen (Cysteamin, Propanolamin), von komplexen Lipiden (Äthanolamin), von Neurotransmittern (Äthanolamin, 3,4-Dihydroxy-phenyläthylamin), von sehr vielen sekundären Pflanzenstoffen, insbesondere von Alkaloiden, und als Bestandteile von Ribosomen (Cadaverin, Putrescin, Agmatin).
