Zusammenfassung

Hormone steuern in vielzelligen tierischen Organismen die Aktivitäten von Zellen und koordinieren die Funktion der Organe. Die Ansprechbarkeit einer Zelle auf ein bestimmtes Hormon hängt in erster Linie von ihrem Besitz an Rezeptormolekülen ab. Die Art der Antwort ist spezifisch für einen Zelltyp. Sie wird während der Entwicklung des Organismus einer Zelle aufgeprägt und ist Ausdruck ihrer Differenzierung. Dies bedeutet, daß das an die Hormonrezeptoren angekoppelte, von Zelltyp zu Zelltyp verschiedene Signalübertragungssystem darüber entscheidet, auf welche Weise eine Zelle auf ein bestimmtes Hormon reagiert.
