Abstract
The design of open distributed systems has received much attention from practitioners and from theoreticians during the past 15 years. Several computational theories have been developed, and many techniques for the specification of these systems have been proposed by the computer science community, with some of them being internationally standardized. Moreover, much effort has been devoted to the problem of verifying and testing open distributed systems, and to the development of international standards. So, is there anything else that ought to be said about open distributed systems design?
