Broca, Wernicke und Lichtheim. Oder: Was blieb von der klassischen Aphasieforschung?

Zusammenfassung

Leischner datiert die Epoche der klassischen Aphasieforschung in den Zeitraum zwischen 1861 und 1945 (vgl. Leischner, 21987, S. 25). Das Forschungsinteresse dieser Zeit liegt darin, den Nachweis der Lokalisierbarkeit der höheren psychischen Funktionen des Menschen in der Großhirnrinde zu erbringen und — damit verbunden — in dem Versuch einer Systematisierung bzw. Klassifizierung der zentralen Sprachstörungen und deren Abgrenzung von den zentralen oder peripheren Sprechstörungen. Die Erfahrung zeigt, daß bedeutende Texte der klassischen Aphasieforschung — ich denke hier u.a. an die Arbeiten Brocas (1888), Wernickes (1874 [1974]; 1885; 1886), Lichtheims (1885), Kleists (1914) und die daran z.T. unmittelbar anschließenden kritischen Positionen (vgl. z.B. Jackson, 1879/80 (1915); Freud, 1891; Goldstein, 1948; Bay, 1949; etc.), die vielfach nur noch aus zusammenfassenden Darstellungen — also sekundär — zur Kenntnis genommen werden. Die Gefahr, daß auf diese Weise Ungenauigkeiten oder sogar Fehlinterpretationen übernommen werden, ist zumindest gegeben. Vor allen Dingen aber werden verkürzte, klischeehafte Darstellungen übermittelt.
