Zusammenfassung
Wir haben an anderer Stelle1 ausführlich dargelegt, daß das mecha nische Gleichgewichtsmodell und das organismische Modell der Homöostase der Gesellschaft, das den meisten modernen soziologischen Theorien zugrunde gelegen hat, nicht mehr brauchbar ist. Ein lebensfähigeres Modell, das dem spezifischen Systemcharakter der Gesellschaft besser gerecht wird, wird mit der Ausarbeitung der modernen systemtheoretischen Perspektive entwikkelt. (Unter „Systemperspektive“ subsumieren wir hier solche Ansätze wie die Allgemeine Systemtheorie, Kybernetik, Informations- und Kommunikationstheorie und ähnliche Gebiete.) In dieser Sichtweise ist die Gesellschaft oder das sozio-kulturelle System nicht prinzipiell ein Gleichgewichtssystem oder ein homöostatisches System, sondern das, was wir ein komplexes adaptives System nennen wollen.
