Abstract
The goal of this presentation is to discuss requirements for real-time multiprocessors and present a RISC-based architecture which meets these requirements. The described architecture, a symmetric tightly-coupled multiprocessor, runs the multiprocessor REAL/EX operating system and includes a number of features which provide high real-time performance. Performance evaluation of this architecture is presented, which includes (a) real-time benchmarks, which measure real-time performance of this system, and (b) multiprocessor benchmarks, which are specifically designed to test and measure impact of multiprocessing to real-time performance.
