Abstract
In section 3.5 we discussed, mainly in the frame of the oscillator model, the influence of the Pauli principle on nuclear wave functions. We now resume this discussion, but without the restriction of the oscillator assumption. We shall be especially interested in how the effect of the Pauli principle changes with increasing mutual penetration of the clusters. To accomplish this purpose, two detailed examples [HA 66] will be considered. In the first example, it will be seen how the Pauli principle usually causes clusters to differ more and more from the corresponding composite particles as the clusters increasingly penetrate each other. In the second example, however, we shall show that a cluster still remains energetically favoured even when embedded in a large nucleus where it is surrounded and penetrated by many other nucleons.
