Streben nach Glück - Menschenrecht und staatliche Garantie

Zusammenfassung

Glück ist eine traditionsreiche Leitidee von Politik und Ethik in Europa. Begünstigt durch die frühe Institutionalisierung der praktischen Philosophie an den Universitäten, ist sie ein konstitutives Element des “okzidentalen Rationalismus” (M. Weber) bis in die Gegenwart.1 Das ist auch einem gelungenen Theorietransfer von der Alten in die Neue Welt durch die Gründergeneration der Vereinigten Staaten zu verdanken.2 Hätte es ihn nicht gegeben, so wäre in der von kriegerischen Auseinandersetzungen heimgesuchten Alten Welt das Glück utopisch geworden, soweit es nicht in einzelnen kontinentalen reform-absolutistischen Territorialstaaten zur “guten Policey” verstaatlicht wurde oder in der vorrevolutionären Kulturkritik und “negativen Historik” vom Zentrum an die Peripherie europäischen politischen Denkens rückte.
