Abstract

The application of DRM-methods frequently has a potential to conflict with issues of data protection, because a substantial amount of personal data is usually processed. The constitutionally protected position of the copyright holder, who wants appropriate protection against any circumvention of copyright protection and the modification and erasure of his works, collides with the basic right of informational self-determination of the user. The article will examine the possibility to develop DRM-systems which conform to the demands of data protection and will present the conditions, which have to be met.
