Abstract
An increasing number of reported software vulnerabilities concerning security issues leads to the need for a systematic approach. This paper enumerates and explains the success factors for vulnerability management of security weaknesses. Further it provides an introduction to a pragmatic approach and the main constraints that must be considered. An outlook then closes the article.
