Das CMM (Capability Maturity Model)2 ist ein Modell welches vom SEI (Software Engineering Institute, USA) in den 80-er Jahren entwickelt wurde. Dieses Modell wurde erstellt, um eine bessere Evaluation und Auswertung von Softwareanbietern durchführen zu können. Das CMM wurde ursprünglich für den Einsatz im U.S. Verteidigungsministerium entwickelt.
