Zusammenfassung
Die Geschwindigkeit und das Ausmaß der Veränderung von Märkten haben in den letzten Jahren zugenommen. Vor allem das hohe Entwicklungstempo neuer Informations- und Kommunikationstechnologien hat den Grad der Vernetzung der Volkswirtschaften erhöht und dadurch zu einer Potenzierung von Rückkopplungseffekten geführt. Dies schlägt sich in den letzten Jahren in einer erhöhten Zahl von Ad-hoc-Krisen nieder, weil die mit Rückkopplungseffekten einhergehende schlechtere Prognostizierbarkeit marktlicher und gesellschaftlicher Entwicklungstrends die Wahrscheinlichkeit des „nicht-vorbereitet-Seins“auf Unternehmensseite deutlich erhöht hat. Zur Eindämmung des Ausmaßes negativer Zielabweichungen in solchen Situationen muss das strategische Flexibilitätspotenzial eines Unternehmens erhöht werden. Auch deshalb, weil ein dauerhaft profitables Wachstum in einem von Diskontinuitäten geprägten Marktumfeld nur bei hoher strategischer Flexibilität zu erreichen ist. Vor diesem Problemhintergrund wird das Konstrukt der strategischen Flexibilität im Folgenden zunächst aus ressourcentheoretischer Perspektive konzeptualisiert und anschließend dessen Bedeutung zur Prävention und Eindämmung von Ad-hoc-Krisen aufgezeigt.
