Sie ist die klassische Entscheidungstheorie für rational handelnde ökonomische Akteure und sie liefert die dominante Erklärung des Preisbildungsprozesses in einer Marktwirtschaft. Damit ist sie die Benchmark für die ökonomische Theorie insgesamt.
