Zusammenfassung
Das ISO/OSI-Referenzmodell wird häufig auch OSI-Schichtenmodell genannt. Es handelt sich hierbei um ein vom ISO (= International Organization for Standardization = Internationales Normungsgremium) vorgelegtes Normenmodell für die offene Kommunikation zwischen Netzwerkteilnehmem, unabhängig von der Entfemung (lokal, kontinental, interkontinental) und des benutzten Systems des jeweiligen Netzwerkteilnehmers.
