Zusammenfassung

Das Phänomen der Autorität im Mittelalter ist, auch wenn wir uns auf den Bereich, in dem der Einfluß des kanonischen Rechtes im Spiel ist, beschränken, derart komplex, daß es nicht leicht ist, in einem einzelnen Aufsatz ein hinreichend differenziertes Bild zu geben. Das mittelalterliche Leben, auch das der weltlichen Gesellschaft, war weitgehend von kirchlichem Denken bestimmt, so daß in dieser Epoche kirchliche Autoritätsstrukturen von allgemeiner Bedeutung waren. Ich möchte hier einige mir zum Verständnis mittelalterlicher Autorität wichtig erscheinende Fragen herausgreifen, ohne aber den Anspruch zu erheben, ein vollständiges Bild zu zeichnen.
