Zusammenfassung
Japan ist die einzige hochentwickelte Industriegesellschaft, die sich in einer gewissen Eigenständigkeit außerhalb des Zusammenhangs der westlichen Welt herausgebildet hat. Trotz ihrer intensiven Beeinflussung durch westliche Vorbilder hat sie in einigen Bereichen bis heute Traditionen bewahren oder neu beleben können, die sich von denen in Europa und Amerika unterscheiden. Für vergleichende Analysen eignet sich Japan daher in besonderer Weise.
