Abstract

The aim of this paper is to assess Italy’s chances of taking part in the European economic and monetary union (EMU). It will outline the concepts and procedures behind the European project and the subsequent conditions they have placed on achieving the objective. The problems are linked both to the ambitious nature of the European project and to the plethora of economic and metaeconomic problems currently affecting Italy.
