Abstract
Supergravity has attracted much interest because it offers a chance for constructing a renormalizable theory which describes strong, electromagnetic, and weak interaction and gravitation. Such a construction would have to extend pure supergravity by including internal symmetries whose gauging would yield the non-gravitational interactions. In this talk we will describe pure supergravity, mention its nice features, and point out a difficulty associated with its S-matrix.
