Zusammenfassung
At the Reykjavik summit in October 1986 President Reagan and General Secretary Gorbachev challenged the status quo of the US-Soviet relationship and, by implication, the status quo of much of the world’s security system. Jointly, both leaders envisioned a world without nuclear weapons, a vision that many welcome as a timely call to search in earnest for alternatives to the present security system and many others believe spells disaster for international security.
