Vorüberlegungen zu einer „Theorie sozialer Probleme“

Zusammenfassung

Überlegungen zu einer „Theorie sozialer Probleme“ anzustellen, bedarf mit Sicherheit einer gewissen Rechtfertigung. Erstens ergibt sich für denjenigen, der sich wissenschaftlich oder praktisch mit sozialen Problemen beschäftigt, sofort die Frage, ob es sich angesichts der Unzahl vielfältigster „sozialer Probleme“ überhaupt lohnt, nach einer Theorie sozialer Probleme zu suchen, da diese eine Theorie unterschiedlichste Phänomene erklären müßte1. Zweitens fühlen sich theoretisch-systematisch denkende Soziologen meist sehr unwohl, wenn sie sich theoretisch mit einem Gegenstandsbereich befassen sollen, dessen Name aus der Alltagssprache stammt und aus diesem Grunde, da keine wissenschaftliche Kategorie, unpräzise bestimmt zu sein scheint. Drittens wird man sich sofort fragen, ob es einen definitiven Unterschied zwischen den üblicherweise als „soziologische Theorien“ bezeichneten Theorien zur Erklärung gesellschaftlicher Phänomene und einer „Theorie sozialer Probleme“ gibt und worin gegebenenfalls diese Differenz besteht2.

Bei der ersten Bearbeitung der behandelten Fragen habe ich in einem gemeinsamen Forschungsprojekt mit Udo Nouvertnè intensiv diskutieren können und eine gemeinsame Kurzfassung erarbeitet. Dieser Aufsatz stellt jedoch eine solche Modifikation und Erweiterung dar, daß ich ihn allein zu verantworten habe. Mein Dank gilt Udo Nouvertnè dennoch ohne Einschränkung.
