Zusammenfassung

Für uns Therapeuten wurde das 20. Jahrhundert mit Freuds epochaler Arbeit über die Traumdeutung im Jahre 1900 eröffnet (S. Freud 1900). Seine Ideen hatten Vordenker in der deutschen Romantik und der französischen Psychiatrie, doch seine Ideen leiteten das 20. Jahrhundert wie mit einem Hammerschlag ein, und seine Entdeckung unbewußter Verhaltensmotivation und der inneren Persönlichkeitskonflikte, die sowohl für neurotische wie auch somatische Symptome und für die Entwicklung der Kultur verantwortlich sind, prägten das ganze Jahrhundert.
