Radebold schreibt (1994), daß kaum 50- bis 60-jährige und selten Patienten über 60 Jahre psychoanalytisch behandelt werden. Auch in den Niederlanden kommen Patienten über 50 Jahre nicht mehr für eine Psychoanalyse in Betracht, was unter anderem mit der Finanzierung durch den Staat zusammenhängt.
