Zusammenfassung
Der “Rational Choice” (RC) - Ansatz bildet einen Überbegriff für eine Reihe von Forschungsrichtungen und Erklärungsansätzen, die nur lose und über allgemeine Voraussetzungen miteinander verbunden sind. Eine interessante Arbeit wäre es, die Prinzipien zu analysieren, nach denen sich diese voneinander unterscheiden. In diesem Vortrag geht es mir vor allem um die wichtigste soziologische Variante, die sich auf die Erklärung von Handlungen als Elementen sozialer Phänomene umfassender Reichweite konzentriert und damit die Entstehung und das Bestehen von Institutionen und Handlungszusammenhängen generell erklären möchte (Coleman 1991; Lindenberg 1990; Hechter 1983). Diese Variante versteht sich zugleich als eine verbindliche Aussage darüber, wie die Erklärung sozialer Phänomene vor sich zu gehen hat und was Erklärung in der Soziologie überhaupt ist.
