Zusammenfassung
Photovoltaische Konzentrator-Module werden entwickelt, weil sie potentiell elektrische Leistung zu niedrigeren Kosten als Flachmodule produzieren können. Für solarthermische Stromgeneratoren wurde das schon in großer Serie demonstriert. Die solarthermischen Kraftwerke der Firma LUZ produzieren Elektrizität im 10 MW-Bereich zu Preisen, die sie fast konkurrenzfähig zu konventionellen Kraftwerken machen. Aber während bei solarthermischen Kraftwerken die Lichtkonzentration dazu verwendet wird, möglichst hohe Temperaturen im Primärkreislauf zu erzielen, ist das Motiv bei photovoltaischen (PV) Konzentrator-Systemen ein anderes. Hier kommt es darauf an, durch Konzentration des Sonnenlichtes die Flächen der Solarzellen zu reduzieren, um einerseits den Wirkungsgrad zu erhöhen und andererseits Kosten zu sparen. Insbesondere wenn hocheffiziente Solarzellen (SZ) eingesetzt werden, kann Konzentration einen wirtschaftlichen Vorteil bringen.
