System Architecture of the BAF System

  • Chapter
Access to B-ISDN via PONs

Abstract

The general architectural model of ATM PONs presented in Chapter 3.1 will now be adapted to the case of the BAF system. This chapter should be regarded as an example of translating general concepts into system design. The reader shall find a refinement of the general architecture to a suitable level of detail as a guideline for implementation and also an instance of this architecture implemented in the BAF system demonstrator. To avoid confusion between the system architecture and the particular demonstrator details, stemming from their parallel presentation as attempted in this chapter, the restrictions imposed by the demonstrator implementation on the BAF system concept are explicitly mentioned.
